Wall Retexturing for Your Home’s Interior

Here at Paint Denver, we tackle all kinds of interior renovations for our clients. Oftentimes, we come across clients who have removed some wallpaper or wainscoting, or recently relocated a door or a window, and need wall retexturing services.

If you don’t know exactly how you’re going to get that flat, unadorned piece of drywall to blend in with the texture on the rest of your home’s interior, you’ll need a retexturing treatment.

Tools You’ll Need for Wall Retexturing

If you’re considering tackling this project on your own, there are a number of tools you’ll need to get the job done.

In order to properly retexture your wall, you’ll need drywall mud – and lots of it. You’ll mix this compound up until you reach the right consistency, it should feel like cake batter. If there are any puncture marks, holes, dips, or other imperfections in the wall, you’ll want to even those out with the compound and a putty knife.

In total, you’ll need about 8 tools:

  • Drywall mud
  • Work cloths
  • Drill and mixing attachment
  • Trowel
  • Putty knife
  • Painter’s tape
  • Paint roller
  • Texture brush

DIY Wall Retexture or Hire a Pro

If you’re a DIY fan and want to tackle this project yourself, more power to you! However, depending on the size of your home, this project could take a long time, not to mention the cost of the supplies to get the job done. Depending on whether you’re creating a smooth, flat finish, or adding texture to a wall for design aesthetic. It definitely requires finesse and patience to master the technique it takes to create a perfectly smooth wall.

Drywall work can get really messy. Professionals know to cover the floors, mask everything off and contain the dust. The pros will also have all the equipment for taping and mudding. Balancing time against money is always a factor when deciding whether to do something yourself or hire a professional. This is a time that we strongly suggest hiring a professional, as this is not an easy job to take on on your own.

4 Things to do to Prepare Your Interior for Denver Painters

Paint contractors understand that, ideally, your Denver painters should be in and out of your home as quickly as possible when it comes to interior paint jobs.

Painting companies want to ensure we’re doing the best work possible and get you back to a normal space as seamlessly as possible. For that process to move quickly, there are a few things homeowners can do to assist with making interior paint jobs efficiently.

Moving Furniture

Interior paint jobs are a bit more tedious than exterior jobs. Moving heirlooms or delicate furniture away from walls or doorframes ensures safety for those items. If you need assistance to move these items, please notify the Paint Denver Team Leader and we’ll take extra care to keep these pieces of furniture safe. For regular pieces of furniture, we will cover and protect the furniture and floors.

To assist with efficient prep work, removing small, fragile, and expensive objects from the rooms that are to be painted would help our team immensely. Any china should especially be emptied from china cabinets and moved away from work areas. Emptying bookcases and removing paintings, pictures, posters, and manageable mirrors from the walls would also speed up the prep work.

Wall Plate Removal

It’s an easy thing to forget. These little plastic fixtures are all removed, put away, then replaced by our crews before and after a job. We want to be sure there aren’t any bare spots where the paint doesn’t cover.

Remove these, along with any vent and return covers and shorten the painting process by a few minutes!

Floor Coverings

We’ll provide these for any job, but if you have sheets and other unused, old fabrics you want to use for protection, set them out!

Our Denver painters always come prepared, but these extra tools may help keep the space protected from accidental spills or splatter.

Prepping the Details

There are a dozen little things our team does to prep a space for interior paint. We clean all surfaces including walls, ceiling, and trim. It’s not always obvious, but these surfaces collect dust, pet hair, and sawdust overtime and could interfere with the quality of the paint job.

We also cover any imperfections in the surfaces with drywall patching. This ensures smooth, perfect paint application.

Most painting companies, like Paint Denver, are happy to do this ourselves. But doing them ahead of time may speed up your home improvement timeline.

Stress Free Interior Painting

Of course, you could just kick up your feet, relax, and let Pain Denver’s team of professional painters take the lead.

We’re happy to prep and paint your interior and keep the home improvement process as stress-free as possible. If you have a painting project in mind, we invite you to schedule your free estimate!

Get A Virtual Painting Estimate

We have begun to make virtual painting estimates for clients to protect against the spread of COVID-19. Generally, a Paint Denver salesperson would come to the prospective customer’s home and have a free estimate of the painting project within 30-45 minutes. We are trying to limit the people in our client’s homes. Including virtual painting estimates through video calls, real-estate photographs, and pictures is one way to do so.

Our highest priority at Paint Denver is to keep our customers and crew safe and secure. While we continue to innovate new ways to serve our customers, offering virtual estimates is one of the many ways we’re adapting to better serve our customers in these unprecedented times.

Virtual Estimate Benefits

Virtual painting estimates have many benefits in keeping our customers and workers secure. It eliminates in-person contact, as measurements and project information will be collected through phone, video, photo, or a communication method that works best for you.

Virtual estimates also help you check projects off your to-do list while you’re at home. Having a price quote and choosing who to hire can often be the longest part of the painting process, and thanks to virtual estimates, we can work together to complete this stage easily.

If the project is to be completed exclusively outdoors, it is possible that work could start now, as interaction with the teams would be unnecessary. This will be decided by the unique limitations of your county.

How to Schedule a Virtual Estimate

You can visit our website and send a request via our contact form. A salesperson will be contacting you shortly after. You may also request an estimate through our Facebook page by selecting “Book Now.”

A phone call at 303-800-7575 can also be an option to simply ask for a virtual estimate through the phone. We will send a confirmation email containing the date and time for which you are scheduled.

What if I Prefer an In-Person Estimate?

We recognize that often technology does not substitute in-person experiences. In general, on-site estimates can also be made for exterior projects, as well as empty buildings such as uninhabited homes and closed businesses or schools.

Home Painting After the Holidays

The holidays are over, and you can finally relax! But what’s this post-holiday glum you’re feeling? Without the seasonal décor, your home is starting to feel a little drab. One thing that you may not have considered is hiring a professional painter to liven up your home with some interior home painting.

Revitalize Your Home

If your walls have been the same color for years, you may not have realized just how dull your walls and home have become once the holiday decorations are down. By consulting a paint contractor, like Paint Denver, you can get some ideas, feedback, and advice on which colors in each room of your home will look best.

Focus on the Details

While thinking about interior home painting, most people consider the walls and either ignore the trim or choose a neutral color to fade into the background. However, a statement can be made by making your baseboards, door frames, doors, banisters and other items pop. Space can be updated by changing the trim color to give it the correct “frame” when cleaning up any scuffs or imperfections.

Lift Your Mood

Post-holiday stress is very real. Especially when you’re looking over your budget and your family and friends are back in their homes. You may be pleasantly surprised to find that colors can affect your mood significantly. Colors such as pink and rose can have a calming effect and promote pleasant conversation. Green can be uplifting, while blue can create a sense of tranquility. If you’re looking for a natural way to enhance your mood, these are great colors for interior home painting.

If you are long overdue for an interior home painting, you should consider getting in touch with a paint contractor to help revive your walls. This will make your entire home look more colorful and even relieve some stress! Contact Paint Denver today at 303-800-7575 for a free estimate. With Paint Denver, you get a quality experience that is unique within the painting business, every time.

House Painting Before or After Move-In

Congratulations on your new home! What an exciting milestone to achieve and we bet you’re excited to move-in! But wait! Before you move in, there are a lot of logistics to consider when you’re moving from one place to another. You need to think about what needs to be done to your new home before you move in! You may be on the fence about a house painting before you actually move in, but that’s one of the best and easiest things you can do to make your new space look new and feel like home.

No Need to Move Furniture

Interior house painting is easiest when it’s being done on a new home. Painting a new home before you move in allows paint contractors to have room to move around and paint without needing to move furniture or other items. Properly prepping your new home painting is crucial for protecting flooring, fixtures, and furnishings. If there’s no furniture in your home, there’s no need to move it and you won’t have to worry about damaging it.

Avoid Messing Up Wet Paint

A pre-move-in paint job allows for the paint to dry completely before you begin to move in your belongings. When your interior painting project is complete before move-in, you can spend an extra day or two outside of your new home to ensure all the paint is dried.

If you paint your interior after your belongings are in your home, you might want your belongings back in place as soon as possible. This might mean moving furniture to rooms that aren’t dried and potentially messing up the wet paint.

Saves Time and Labor

Interior house painting with a new home can save you both time and labor costs. Painting a new home means you don’t have to move furniture back and forth after one room is done. Less labor means you’ll be saving more money!

If your paint contractor is painting an empty home, this means your interior painting can be done all in one go without having to schedule multiple appointments.

Let’s get your new home move-in ready with a fresh interior painting project. Contact Paint Denver today at 303-800-7575 to schedule your appointment. We guarantee a job well done!
